She Reads Too Much

There are a million other things I should be doing with my time...cleaning my house, riding my motorcycle, cooking my family dinner, talking to my Mother on the phone. But I can't. I just....can't. There are too many good books to read.

Stuff

Stuff - Josephine Myles A surprising sweet and slow burning love story between two very unlikely men.

Mas is, in all honesty, quite the man whore. Countless one night stands, fuck buddies and even an affair with a married man. Down on his luck, he's been fired from his job and is on the verge of being kicked out of his apartment. After being caught shoplifting while leaving work after being fired for, what I presume is grossly inappropriate behavior he ducks into a strange little shop a few buildings down from his apartment.

There he meet Perry, one of the most weirdly endearing fictional characters I've ever met. He's a geek of the first degree, immersed in creating odd steam punk sculptures and frustrated by the need to actually run his vintage clothing shop.

Mas barrels into his life like a whirling dervish and challenges everything in Perry's life.

While Mas could have been a wholly annoying character (he is pushy, overly flirty, pretty slutty and bends the truth) he actually comes off as someone you want to cuddle and protect. Yet he is this fiercely independent young man who is an amazingly creative and hard worker. He takes over Perry's shop and makes it something so much more and better.

Perry is socially awkward and seems to have only had sex with this one particular female prostitue And had no idea he could be attracted to men. But Mas is a force of nature.

I had problems with how easily Perry actually accepted he was gay (or bi) after having sex with Mas. It was frustrating to read Mas' major drama queen moments. The fact that when the theft from the beginning of the book was brought up Mas' reaction was, well, the stuff never left the store so it wasn't really stealing rather than more emphasis being put on how scared and desperate he was at the time was disappointing.

The cover really never did it for me, the models looked way too damn young. Like teen young. So that was awkward.

However the actual relationship was sweet, the sex was pretty hot and these men ended up being the perfect foil for each other.

Overall a very enjoyable read and recommended to fans of sweet, gay for you, virgin hero, slow burn romances with fairly low angst levels.
